Tour my $275,000 SMALL HOME in Joshua Tree, California! Can this Airbnb really make $100,000 a year?

Welcome to my small home in Joshua Tree — AKA Casa Mariposa. While this 800 square foot house isn’t really considered a “tiny” house per se, I would definitely still put it under the tiny movement umbrella. When designing this house with tiny home expert and designer Shawn Dehner over at www.smallhousecatalog.com, we purposely designed it to be a smaller, but perfectly efficient, home. Much of the design process was a full-on collaboration on how to get the most out of every square foot of Casa Mariposa (named after the butterfly style roof design). I think true tiny houses are typically 500sf or less. Once you get past that footprint, it becomes just an ole regular-sized house! This house sits in the heart of the city, just 5 minutes away from Joshua Tree National Park. It is also just 3 minutes away from my other tiny home build— Casa Conejo.

When forecasting my revenue, I predict that we’ll be making anywhere from $72,000 all the way up to $100,800. A lot can determine how much revenue you make on Airbnb like host management style, seasonal pricing, interior design and location. As I’ve been doing this for a few years now, I feel pretty confident that this little home will be on the top end of my revenue forecast. While I don’t know the exact number, I do know my experience will ultimately help me make this home a top tier Airbnb home.
